History P. E. Davis (Williamson 1965: 281) says: 'A male showing the characteristics of Ehrenberg's Redstart was observed on 6th September 1948.'

BOURC (2012) in The Ibis, Vol. CLIV. p. 213, say: 'BBRC and BOURC reviewed accepted and putative records of this taxon against the criteria outlined in Br. Birds 102: 84–97. All descriptions assessed either failed to meet the criteria or were insufficiently detailed to confirm whether the criteria were fulfilled. As a result, the subspecies P. p. samamisicus has been deleted from the British List.'
