Biography Patterson (1905) says: 'The late Rev. C. J. Lucas, of Fleggburgh, had a collection of East Norfolk birds, including some rarities, and a great number of authentic local examples. He was rather impulsive in his choice of birds, and might have exercised greater care with regard to their bona fides, as well as their age and the state of their plumage. He patronised various bird-stuffers; but unfortunately failed to encase many of his specimens in a manner worthy their value. This collection still remains in the family, but has never been catalogued, so that with his death the history of many of the best birds has been lost - a remark that unfortunately applies to many other private collections.'

Riviere (1930) adds: 'The greater part of his collection went to Mrs. Fisher of Burgh House, Fleggburgh, Norfolk.'
