STATUS

Northern Turkey and northern Caucasus south to north Georgia, northern Iran and north-west Afghanistan. Monotypic.

OVERVIEW

The first record was when it was a sub-species of Greenish Warbler P. trochiloides as it was not split from that species until 2008 (Ibis, 150: 833–835).

Five out of the eight individuals have been found in the northern isles. The other three in SW England. One in Yorkshire breaks the mould and is only the second mainland record.
